Head Porting & Oversized Valves- Things Have to Work Together to make a Benefit

Hey everyone! I wanted to explain today to those of you who may be a bit confused on the differences between +1, +2, +3 valves and WHY you must re-port if you are jumping up a size. If you do not adjust your port size when you are jumping from, for example, a +2 valve to a +3, you are not gaining the power you could be if you were to adjust the port.

You can see the difference between how wide the port runners are on the +3 head compared to the +2. Blending the port floor and roof is also important when going to a bigger valve to improve the flow and have it work best with the valve size.
Remember, porting doesn’t mean “make the port bigger”. Porting means “make the air flow the most efficient!”
